John Douglas Siegle, 72, of Union City passed away Sunday, October 23, 2022 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence in Kalamazoo.
In keeping with John’s wishes, he will be cremated and no formal services will be held.
The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City.
John was born on October 26, 1949 in Kearny, New Jersey to Frederick and Gladys (Young) Siegle, Jr. He graduated from high school in New Jersey and served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
John had worked as a diesel mechanic for more than 30 years and had been employed by Sea Land Trucking in Newark, NJ. He lived in Jersey most of his life. He married Maria Manish on February 3, 1999 in Las Vegas. The couple lived in Bethlehem, PA for several years together. She preceded him in death on January 13, 2017. John then moved to Union City, MI to be closer to his twin sister, Judy Gottschalk.
Mr. Siegle had been a member of American Legion Post #196 in Union City. Back in Jersey he was a longtime member of the No Name dart team at the Blue Bar in Kearny. He was one of the most laid back, easygoing guys you could ever meet. He could be demanding, but he loved his family and absolutely loved living at Turtle Lake in Union City for the last few years of his life.
In addition to his sister Judy (Ralph) Gottschalk of Union City, John is survived by his children Annmarie McKenna and Katelynn Sylvia, both of New Jersey, and his step-son Timothy Siegle of PA.
Besides his wife, John was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers; Frederick Siegle III, Richad Siegle, and Paul Siegle.
