BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The post season for Michigan high school football teams starts on Friday night. Branch County had two teams make the Michigan High School Athletic Association football playoffs.
The Union City Chargers travel to Hudson for a Division Seven pre-district contest with the Tigers. Hudson won the Division Eight state title last season and won 22 straight games before losing last week to Clinton 32-26 in the regular season finale.
After winning the Big 8 Conference championship, the Chargers are also coming off a loss as they were beaten last Saturday by Napoleon 15-0. Union City is 7-2 while Hudson is 8-1.
Friday’s winner will face either Homer or Jackson Lumen Christi for a district championship next week. Game time on Friday night is 7:00 p.m.. Coverage on AM 1590 and FM 95.5 WTVB starts at 6:30 p.m..
The Tekonsha Indians will also take a 7-2 record into the eight player football post season. The Indians play at Martin Friday night in a Division One opening round game.
Martin is also 7-2 as the Clippers are making their fifth straight appearance in the post season. They defeated Tekonsha in the opening round last year 41-0 on their way to the state semifinals.
Friday’s winner will play either Gobles or Adrian Lenawee Christian in the regional finals next week.
