HUDSON, MI (WTVB) – Hudson scored 30 unanswered points in the second and third quarters, turning a one-score game into a blowout, as the Tigers defeated Union City 50-13 in an MHSAA Division 7 District Semifinal football game Friday night at Thompson Field.
The only Charger scores came on a 33-yard touchdown pass from Elijah Payne to Rick Austin in the second quarter and a 6-yard pass from Payne to Jeremy Zehr in the fourth quarter.
Austin finished with 3 receptions for 57 yards, while Zehr had 3 catches for 49 yards. Payne was 7/13 passing for 110 yards, two scores, and two interceptions, and Riley Laird led the rushing attack with 23 carries for 77 yards. Owen Jackson led the defense with 9 tackles.
Union City’s season ends with a 7-3 record. Hudson improved to 9-1 and will visit Jackson Lumen Christi next week in a Division 7 District Final. The Titans eliminated Homer 41-7.
