COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The campaign to raise funds to help relocate the Children’s Museum of Branch County to the former Taylor’s Stationers building in downtown Coldwater officially closed last Friday.
With the help of over 70 donors and many local service clubs, it was announced by Coldwater Main Street Director and Economic Development Coordinator Audrey Tappenden that they exceeded their $50,000 goal and raised more than $73,000 towards creating a bigger, brighter Children’s Museum.
Tappenden said after meeting their goal, they will receive an additional $50,000 from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Public Spaces Community Places grant program.
She told the Downtown Development Authority last Wednesday there were some significant donations.
The renovations at the Taylor’s Building are scheduled to be finished in early 2023.
Tappenden said there were a number of presentations during the campaign to local organizations and service clubs.
The campaign was offered through the Michigan-based crowdfunding platform Patronicity.
