BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Gas prices are dropping heading into the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
Triple-A Michigan reports the state’s average gas price is back under four-dollars a gallon with a decline of 23-cents from last week.
The average price in Michigan is now three-dollars-81-cents, which is down 31-cents in the past month and 45-cents higher than last year.
Even with the price drop, the state is likely to set the highest average price for Thanksgiving, as the record from 2012 is three-61.
As of Monday morning, gas prices is Branch County were ranging from $3.59 to $3.79 a gallon.
Patrick De Haan is the head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. He said in his blog last week, “With oil prices remaining volatile, the outlook is murky, but I’m hopeful in the lead up to Thanksgiving we’ll see prices declining in more states, while others may not be quite as lucky. Regardless, we’ll still be seeing the most expensive Thanksgiving Day prices on record.”
