LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Branch County’s unemployment rate in October went up two-tenths of a percent to four percent according to data released Thursday by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget.
The report stated not seasonally adjusted unemployment rates were little changed in all 17 Michigan labor market areas over the month.
Associate Director of the Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives Wayne Rourke said in a statement released by the DTMB, “Michigan regional labor markets displayed little change during October. Payroll jobs advanced modestly in most metro areas over the month.”
The report showed Branch County had the 27th lowest unemployment rate among Michigan’s 83 counties.
Unemployment rates were a mixed bag in neighboring counties.
Rates in Hillsdale and St. Joseph Counties went up to four-point-three percent while Calhoun County’s rate dropped to four-point-five percent.
Michigan’s October unemployment rate was at four-point-two percent.
Unemployment rates in October ranged from two-point-three percent in Livingston County to eight-point-one percent in Roscommon County.
