COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man was ordered to serve between seven and 30 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections on Monday morning in Branch County Circuit Court after he entered a no contest plea to second degree criminal sexual conduct.
38-year-old Matthew Albert was sentenced after entering into a plea agreement on October 25 with prosecutors which included an habitual offender third offense sentencing enhancement.
In exchange for his plea, prosecutors dismissed three other criminal sexual conduct charges including two first degree counts.
Albert will have to register as a sex offender with the State of Michigan and he was ordered to have no contact with the victim from the crime that according to Branch County court documents took place in August of 2019.
Albert was given credit for four days already served.
He is going back to prison after he was given a prison sentence in 2015 of 23 months to five years for felony drunk driving and eluding police.
