BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Lady Cardinals clamped down defensively and used a 14-1 fourth quarter to pull away from host Hastings 37-21 on Friday night in their Interstate 8 Conference opener.
The win improved Coldwater’s overall record to 4-0 overall.
Coldwater’s Elli Foley led all scorers with 20 points which included three buckets from beyond the arc. She added a team high eight rebounds.
Mya Porter and Rylie VanAken had five points each. Danika Cox grabbed six rebounds and had three assists.

Elsewhere in Branch County girls basketball on Friday night, Bronson improved to 3-0 as they romped to a 73-34 home court win over Concord in their Big 8 Conference opener.
Bronson dominated throughout the game as they jumped out to a 28-9 lead after the first quarter and were up 45-22 at the half and 59-23 after three quarters.
In other Big 8 Conference openers, Reading defeated Quincy 35-20 as the Rangers improved to 4-1 and Union City lost at Springport 64-25.
Tekonsha was a winner on Friday night as they defeated North Adams-Jerome 27-11.
