COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater swore in a new City Clerk on Monday as former City Clerk Susan Heath administered the oath of office to Shauna Chavez.
Chavez has worked for six years as an Administrative Assistant in the Neighborhood Services Department and has spent the last five of the six years serving as the Deputy Clerk.
Chavez grew up in Coldwater and is now raising her own family within the City limits. She believes that “Improvement comes with the willingness to deconstruct, reconstruct and turn things around.”
Heath is retiring after spending 11 years working as the Coldwater City Clerk and 26 years as a Municipal Clerk. She said “It’s been a good run, I’ve enjoyed serving the residents of Coldwater, and I’m now looking forward to retirement.”
Chavez’s first official task as City Clerk was to take the minutes for Monday’s City Council meeting.
Heath will continue to work with the City administering the Oak Grove Cemetery.
