BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles and the Union City Chargers both recorded their first victories of the season in Branch County girls high school basketball on Tuesday night.
The Orioles won at Jonesville 38-32. Alyssa McCavit led the Orioles with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Danika Skirka added six points and four rebounds.
Quincy is now 1-4 overall and 1-1 in the Big 8 Conference.
The Chargers routed future Big 8 Conference opponent Vermontville Maple Valley 67-24. Jordan Chard led Union City with a game-high 24 points while Adalynn Russell scored a career-high 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
The Chargers are now 1-4. Union City will host Quincy on Friday night.
Bronson was scheduled to play at Niles Brandywine on Tuesday night but because of a high number of injuries on the Brandywine team, it was decided to postpone the contest to February 11.
Tekonsha hosted a girls-boys varsity doubleheader with Climax-Scotts on Tuesday night. Tekonsha lost the girls game 38-9 but won the boys game 53-39.
