COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater area man who entered a no contest plea to a charge of second degree criminal sexual conduct was sentenced to a Michigan Department of Corrections prison term of between 29 months and 15 years on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
31-year-old Victor Jordan Butler was also ordered to register with the State of Michigan as a sex offender and he can not have any contact with the victim in the case.
The plea agreement was filed with the court on November 7.
In exchange for Butler’s plea, prosecutors dismissed three third degree Criminal Sexual Conduct charges filed against him. Butler was given credit for four days already served in jail.
According to Branch County court records, the charges against Butler were filed following an investigation into incidents that took place in November of 2019.
