COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Homer man was sent to the Michigan Department of Corrections on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after entering guilty pleas to being in possession of a controlled substance and third degree fleeing from a police officer.
27-year-old Bradley Earl Burd was ordered to serve between 14 months and ten years in prison. He was given credit for 172 days already served in jail.
Another fleeing charge was dismissed by prosecutors in exchange for his pleas. Branch County court documents indicate the crimes took place on February 27.
Burd has had several brushes with the law in recent years. While he was an inmate in the old Branch County Jail on Christmas Eve of 2020, he accused of backing up a toilet and flooding several jail cells.
He eventually entered a guilty plea to a count of Attempted Malicious Destruction of a Building between $1,000 and $20,000 and was ordered to pay restitution of just over $3,000 to cover the damages.
