COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Representatives from three companies who want to provide broadband service to Branch County were interviewed for nearly 90 minutes during Thursday’s Board of Commissioners work session.
County Administrator Bud Norman said there were seven submissions to the RFP the county sent out as a public-private partnership is being sought.
After the proposals were reviewed, three were selected for Thursday’s interview by Norman and Branch County IT Director Matt Fosdick.
The Commissioners are expected to make their decision during next Tuesday’s regular meeting.
Branch County has been looking at updating broadband service for over two years. Norman said during the Commissioners meeting on November 22 that it looks like grants will soon become available to help fund a broadband project.
He added that any potential partnership would be contingent on getting grant funds. The County has been exploring the use of American Rescue Plan funds for such a project.
