COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners are scheduled to take final action on the county’s proposed 2023 general fund budget this Tuesday during their final regular meeting of the year.
The budget was brought forward by Commissioners during a marathon three-and-a-half work session on Thursday.
The 2023 general fund budget came in at over $14-point-8 million and County Administrator Bud Norman said it was balanced.
Proposed staffing levels which calls for no changes to the number of county employees were also brought forward by Commissioners for formal action on Tuesday.
That included a request from Branch County Prosecutor Zach Stempien to convert an assistant position in his office from part-time to full-time to help alleviate work on the attorneys in his office.
In other business, the Commissioners brought forward a request from the Commission of Aging to fill the part time position of Nutrition Site Coordinator.
Whoever is hired would work 18 hours a week and assist the Nutrition Director with overseeing the volunteers who will be serving and delivering meals as the Commission on Aging will be taking over congregate meal service and the delivery of meals to home bound seniors in Branch County on January 1, 2023.
The Commissioners also scheduled their annual organizational meeting for 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.
