COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – High winds and brutally cold temperatures have now moved into Branch County as a Winter Storm Warning continues until 7:00 a.m. Saturday.
The National Weather Service says dangerous wind chills, snow, and blowing and drifting snow are expected, with additional snowfall expected to range between one and three inches.
Winds gusting as high as 50 mph, with the widespread blowing and drifting snow significantly reduce visibility. Wind chills could be 20 to 35 below zero. The temperature at the Branch County Memorial Airport was 32 degrees at 8:15 p.m. Thursday night when it started to drop. An hour later it was 23 degrees. It was down at 16 at midnight and fell below zero at 6:35 a.m.. The temperature fell 37 degrees in 12 hours.
