QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Residents in the Village of Quincy are going through a change in their garbage and recycling provider.
Republic Services is picking up for the last time on Tuesday. Residents are being reminded they will also be picking up their containers starting January 3. In addition, if residents have their Modern Waste Systems container they can start using them.
The normal day for Modern pick up will be Tuesdays, however they will be delayed by a day due to the New Year’s holiday. Pickup will be on January 4 next week. They will go back to normal schedule of Tuesday, January 10.
The Village Council decided on December 6 to transition from Republic Services to Modern Waste Systems of Jackson starting on January 1, 2023.
Village Manager Brittany Butler says the initial residential rates under Modern Waste Systems will be $18.13, with an annual increase of four percent yearly for the 5-year contract. Billing for service will continue to be included in monthly water and sewer utility bills.
Wow, I hope the Village Manager read the customer reviews on Modern’s website….. doesn’t look like a very good company to deal with…
