TEKONSHA, MI (WTVB) – A broken down semi that was hauling dog food was struck by another semi early Wednesday morning on northbound I-69 in northern Branch County.
The crash affected drivers until the early afternoon as the Michigan State Police say the hauler which was struck opened up and dog food was strewn all over the interstate.
The Michigan Department of Transportation says the right lane and right shoulder of northbound I-69 at the 21 mile marker was closed to traffic following the crash which took place just before 6:00 a.m..
The interstate remained open but drivers had to merge into the left lane and use caution in the area.
No injuries were reported. One of the semis wound up in a ditch.
Equipment to remove the semis arrived in the early afternoon and the interstate was called open by MDOT at about 1:30 p.m..
Overnight frost froze on some road surfaces in the area. It’s not known if icy road conditions on Wednesday morning were a factor in the crash.
