QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – After being cancelled for the past two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic and major summertime storms, the 60th edition of the Quincy Chain of Lakes Tip-Up Festival is scheduled to be held on February 11 on Tip Up Island.
As if dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic wasn’t bad enough, numerous large trees were knocked down on Tip Up Island during the storms of August 2021.
It took several months to clear the trees with some of them measuring five feet in diameter. In addition, some of trees fell on the pavilion and damaged the building.
This year’s event will be held even though there’s no ice on the lake. Something new this year will be a wood cutter’s contest. Other events for the family friendly one day event include a craft show, fishing contests, kids games and a jeep jamboree.
The 40th Polar Bear Splash will take place at 12:00 noon with the Fisherman’s Ball set for 8:00 p.m. that evening.
Ken Fickle, Senior will serve as Tip Up Mayor this year while Kim Posande will be the Tip Up Sheriff.
The 2023 Quincy Chain of Lakes Tip-Up Queen pageant will be this Saturday on Tip Up Island.
