COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater boys and girls basketball teams will be holding a fund raising event called “Ball Out for Breast Cancer” on February 3.
The first time event will take place when they’ll host the Marshall Red Hawks.
The goals of the event are to raise breast cancer awareness, encourage regular breast cancer screening to increase the chances of early detection, and to raise money to assist local community members meet the financial burdens that arise during treatments.
Money will be raised through a bake sale, 50/50 raffle, and pink donation jars. All proceeds will be utilized to purchase gas/food cards for extended Coldwater Community Schools family members who are required to travel to and from appointments and treatments.
A ceremony will be held between the varsity games to honor all of those who have lost their battle to breast cancer, those in attendance who are currently in the fight, and all breast cancer survivors. All attendees are being asked to wear pink if at all possible.
The first game will feature the girls’ JV game at 4:00 p.m. with the varsity doubleheader scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m..
