Duane “Moe” Paradine, 75, of Marshall, passed away the morning of January 17, 2023 at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall.
In accordance to his wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial visitation will be held Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
He was born May 27, 1947 in Coldwater, MI to Bertrand and Helen (Swanson) Paradine. He gained the nickname “Moe” as a toddler, shortened from “gizmo” as he was called by his dad.
Moe graduated from Coldwater High School in 1965 and continued his education at U of M, playing on their freshman basketball team before transferring to Western Michigan University where he graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting in 1969.
He began his career as a CPA with the firm Doeren Mayhew Grob and McNamara and was later employed with Bristol Leisenring, but spent the majority of his career with Plante Moran, retiring as a partner in 2005.
September 30, 1972 Moe married Sidney J. Patton and they welcomed their son James in 1980 and daughter Corey in 1981. Moe was a lifelong U of M fan and would attend U of M home football games with friends and family.
Moe had served as a member of the MI Association of CPA’s and both the Battle Creek and Marshall Country Clubs. He was an active golfer and tennis player and enjoyed traveling and puzzles; but above all Moe loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his beloved grandson Finn.
He will be dearly missed as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, brother, and friend to many.
In addition to his wife of 50 years, Sidney, Moe leaves behind his children James Paradine of Marshall, Corey (Dana Greenawalt) Paradine of North Benton, OH; his siblings Beverly (Richard) Zeluff, Ralph (Artie) Paradine both of Coldwater; his grandson Finley Greenawalt and his many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ronald Paradine, and his niece Marcia Garr.
