JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – Four teams were tied atop the Interstate 8 boys basketball standings entering play Friday night. Three remained at the end of the evening, and Coldwater was among them following their 50-45 win at Jackson Lumen Christi.
The Cardinals led 9-4 after the first quarter and 24-14 at halftime, The Titans pulled to within four, 36-32, after three and tied it early in the fourth frame, but Coldwater was able to hold on for their fifth straight win.
Donte Work led all scorers with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Niko Downs added 13 points 5 boards, and 4 assists. Ayden Dirschell had 10 rebounds to go with his 9 points as the Cardinals improved to 6-5 overall, 5-2 in league play and tied with Marshall and Jackson Northwest at the top of the standings. They are off until next Friday, when they host Hastings.
