BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Old Man Winter maybe making up for lost time. There has been very little snowfall so far this winter but the forecast for the middle of the week says that is about to change.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Wednesday in portions of northern Indiana, southwest Michigan and northwest Ohio.
Branch, Hillsdale and Steuben Counties are included in the watch area which is in effect from 4:00 a.m. Wednesday morning through 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday night.
Forecasters say heavy snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches could take place.
Travel could be very difficult as the hazardous conditions will likely impact the morning and evening commutes.
Snow will overspread the area early Wednesday morning and likely be accompanied by areas of blowing and drifting snow by afternoon causing reduced visibilities.
You should monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation and plan ahead if you are expecting to travel during the middle of this week.
