COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners gave formal approval to a 911 project maintenance contract between Branch County and ACD Telecom during their meeting on Tuesday afternoon.
ACD Telecom was the consultant for the recently completed Branch County 911 project.
The original proposal was for five years and covered approximately 22 items. The County countered with a two-year contract and coverage of about 11 items including warranty, maintenance and upgrades. After two years the County will evaluate whether to continue the contract. The cost of the contract for 2023 is $55,000 and over $58,000 for 2024. The contract will be paid for out of the 911 budget.
In other business on Tuesday, the Commissioners approved a quote of $33,000 for the purchase of a Bobcat tractor to help improve operations at the County Complex. The tractor would be used for property management, landscaping, excavating, mowing and snow removal. Currently, they have to borrow equipment from the Road Commission or rent equipment.
The Board also approved a request from the Veteran’s Affairs office to purchase a new transportation vehicle. The V.A. Office has gotten a $50,000 grant for the purchase. After checking with several auto dealers, the vehicle being purchased is a 2023 Kia Carnival from Seelye Kia in Battle Creek. The cost of the vehicle, including fees, is just under $40,000.
