QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – A Quincy man was ordered to spend between 10 and 30 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections on Monday after he entered no contest pleas in connection with a couple of domestic violence cases.
33-year-old Matthew Allen Jackson plead no contest in Branch County Circuit Court on December 12 to charges of unlawful imprisonment, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and domestic violence in connection with an incident on September 17.
He is also entered a no contest plea to an habitual offender enhancement in that case.
Jackson was given credit for 115 days already served in jail.
In another case, Jackson entered a no contest plea to assaulting a police officer during another domestic violence incident on October 1 in an apartment on Glenn Avenue in Quincy as part of a third time habitual offender sentencing enhancer.
He was given a prison sentence of 16 to 24 months with credit for 121 days already served.
The rest of the charges in the October 1 case as well as another case against Jackson were dismissed in exchange for his pleas.
Lawyers for the two sides agreed to a prison term of between 10 and 30 years as part of the plea bargain.
