BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Chargers and Quincy Orioles boys basketball teams earned non-conference victories on Tuesday night.
Union City ended a three game losing streak and improved to 6-8 with a 55-48 overtime victory over Vermontville Maple Valley at the McNett Fieldhouse.
Landon Galvin led the Chargers with 21 points. Jeremy Zehr added 10 points.
Quincy hit the road for a non-conference game at Martin and brought home a 66-33 victory.
The Orioles jumped out to a 14-2 first quarter lead and never looked back.
Quincy was paced by contributions from the entire team. Jimmy Maynard led a balanced Quincy attack with 12 points while Nash Fitton and Ryan Kempter each had 10 points.
Grant Carter and Sam Sawyer each had three steals. Riley Miner had three assists.
Ashtyn Morris grabbed nine rebounds as the Orioles improved their record to 8-5.
