LEROY TOWNSHIP, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department says a man is in custody after a violent assault early Sunday morning at the home of his former girl friend.
Deputies responded at 12:35 a.m. to the 2000 block of B Drive South in Leroy Township where they spoke with a man and a woman who said the woman’s ex-boyfriend arrived at the residence demanding to see her.
The Sheriff’s Department said in a news release that the suspect, identified as a 34-year-old Leroy Township man, forced his way into the residence though the front door with a pistol.
The suspect dragged the woman out of the residence by her hair into the front yard. While she was on the ground, the suspect shot at her.
The man then came outside and was shot at by the suspect before the suspect left in a vehicle.
No injuries were reported.
Deputies found the suspect at his residence where he was taken into custody without further incident.
The suspect was lodged at the Calhoun County Jail on charges of Home Invasion, Kidnapping and two counts of Assault with intent to Murder.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office deputies were assisted by the Michigan State Police, Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi Tribal Police and Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch Authority.
