LANSING, MI (WTVB) – 35th District Republican State Representative Andrew Fink said on Thursday that Governor Whitmer’s $79 billion budget request grows the size of government in the State of Michigan.
Fink is a member of the House Appropriations Committee.
He was not happy about the lack of details in the budget proposal.
Fink also expressed his dissatisfaction with her public safety proposals, saying “The governor’s public safety funding numbers pale in comparison to what Republicans championed last term. We’re committed to keeping our communities, our streets, and our children safe while she’s committed to her own political optics.”
He said officers are leaving local law enforcement agencies because recruitment and retention funding is lackluster at best.
The proposed $79 billion budget is the state’s largest ever thanks in part to a $9 billion state surplus.
