ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Branch Hillsdale St. Joseph Community Health Agency and Covered Bridge Healthcare have announced they are offering self-serve COVID-19 PCR testing at kiosks placed at their locations in Centreville, Sturgis, and Three Rivers.
These units are the first units of their kind to be placed in the state of Michigan and were provided in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control.
The kiosks offer access to COVID-19 testing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
After completing a brief registration form, the kiosks dispense a test kit that includes a nasal swab, like other at-home tests, and instructions on collecting the specimen.
Once the specimen is collected, it is safely packaged back into the kit and placed in the kiosk. The specimens are picked up daily and sent to an accredited lab for PCR testing.
Pre-registration for testing at the kiosks is not required, but available at https://register2.testandgo.com/.
There is no out-of-pocket cost for the tests provided through a kiosk.
For those with insurance, their insurance will be billed for the test.
In many cases, individuals will receive notification of their test results by email or text within 48 hours of specimen collection.
Health Officer Rebecca Burns says, “We are thrilled to be the first to bring this opportunity and technology to our jurisdiction and to the state of Michigan. As we began the implementation process, we approached Covered Bridge Healthcare, as we have been natural partners in many projects, we were determined to provide access to testing without having to wait for an office to be open or a specific day of the week. The Community Health Agency is planning to install an additional three units, two in Branch County and one in Hillsdale County, in the near future, to provide testing access across our jurisdiction.”
Anyone who is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or has had a known exposure to COVID-19 is encouraged to utilize these kiosks.
