COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man was ordered to serve between five and ten years in the Michigan Department of Corrections on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after he entered a no contest plea to a charge of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material.
46-year-old Christopher Jackson Fowler entered into a plea bargain with prosecutors on January 9, a day before he was scheduled to go on trial.
Prosecutors agreed to drop a charge of using a computer to commit a crime as well as a fourth time habitual offender sentencing enhancer in exchange for his no contest plea.
Fowler was given credit for seven days already served in the Branch County Jail. He also ordered to register with the State of Michigan as a sex offender.
Fowler was arrested and charged following a Michigan State Police investigation which included a search warrant being served on October 20, 2020 at Fowler’s Hooker Street home.
