BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – After city officials received complaints about vehicles parking on City property on North Street between the Barone Hardware Barn and the buildings at 120 and 122 North Matteson Street, the Bronson City Council approved an ordinance Monday night that makes the property a fire lane.
The ordinance calls for parking would be disallowed at that location.
City Manager Brandon Mersman said without a fire lane on this parcel, there is very little space for fighting fires downtown with the narrow alley on North Street.
Signage would inform violators that their vehicles would be towed at their own expense.
Pavement markings of no parking would also be required. The ordinance passed on Monday would take effect in 90 days.
