COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The case involving a Coldwater woman who is charged with shooting her daughter during an argument in their home on January 26 was bound over on Thursday to Branch County Circuit Court.
A preliminary examination that lasted for nearly an hour-and-a-half was held on Thursday in Branch County District Court for 64-year-old Kathleen Annette Rowe who is facing charges of discharging a firearm in a building causing serious impairment, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, felony firearm and felonious assault.
Her cash or surety bond remains at $150,000 after a defense request to modify it was declined by Judge Brent Weigle.
The alleged victim, 33-year-old Kacey Stringer, was shot in the abdomen. She was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne where she stayed for over two weeks.
Rowe was arrested after the shooting in the 500 block of Pamela Drive just north of State Street. She claimed self-defense when she was interviewed by police.
Stringer testified during Thursday’s hearing she made no threats against her mother.
Not guilty pleas have been entered on Rowe’s behalf.
She is scheduled to appear for an arraignment in Circuit Court on March 6.
