Joyce was born on May 7, 1926 to William and Doris Morgan of Augusta, Michigan. She grew up in this small community until they moved to Bellevue, Michigan during her teenage years.
In high school, she was out with friends and asked her friend Vivian, who that boy was, only to find that he was Viv’s brother, Jack. She knew that she was going to be his wife someday. Joyce married Jack on March 29, 1944, moved to Burlington, MI and went on to have two children, Jack Jr. and Bonnie.
Joyce worked at a local bakery in her younger years, but then found her greatest joy in being a wife, mother, and caregiver. With her giving spirit and unlimited faith, there were many people that she cared for over her lifetime. She helped care for her parents, siblings, friends, foster children, and two generations of grandchildren.
She enjoyed learning about all things that God has created in nature and how food and plant-based medicines could promote natural healing within the body. With this knowledge, she would reach out to help anyone in need. She cared for and helped so many people in her community that she earned the nickname of Dr. Joyce.
Joyce was a devoted Christian that spent her life being a faithful servant of God. She was a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church in Burlington, MI, where she was in attendance for many years. Joyce assisted in the 7th Day Adventist Service Center, which donated clothing and household items to the local community.
In the earlier years, the ladies would make quilts and mend clothes. Joyce was excited when the larger building was constructed, as they were able to house more items and help more people in her community.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband Jack, parents Doris and William, son Jack Jr., son-in-law Floyd Heard, siblings Gerald and Shirley, granddaughter Tina, and great granddaughter Jessica.
She is survived by her daughter Bonnie, her grandchildren Missy (Eric), Angela (Nathan), Tim (Dana), Kris, Jessica, 14 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, P.O. Box 161, Union City, MI 49094 to assist with funeral expenses or to the 7th Day Adventist Church in Burlington, where Joyce had always cherished her membership and church community.
