QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Police Department has a new officer with four legs.
It has been announced by Quincy Police that Tyson is the department’s new K-9. He will be teamed up with his handler, Officer Randi Lemaster.
Tyson is a recent graduate of the Magnum K-9 school in Quincy, where he and his handler received training in drug detection, tracking and bite work.
A five year contract between the Village of Quincy and LeMaster was approved by Village Council last October.
Lemaster took over the K-9 handling duties from Erin Hamilton-Crites when she left the department.
The Village Council approved reinstating a police canine unit in late 2020 after there wasn’t one for nearly two-and-a-half years.
