JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – Power restoration efforts following last Wednesday’s major ice storm are almost done in Branch County.
As of 5:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, Consumer’s Energy reports 595 customers in Branch County were still without power with most of the outages in the southeastern part of the county.
Hillsdale County was among the hardest hit counties and thousands have spent a sixth dark and cold night. There were over 5,600 customers still without power on Tuesday morning.
Calhoun County outages were down to 215.
Over 71,000 customers system wide were without power on Tuesday morning.
Crews have restored power to over 260,000 Consumers Energy customers in total.
The utility was hoping to get everyone affected by last week’s ice storm back on line by the end of Monday but that deadline was not met.
Over 600 Consumers Energy crews are restoring power to southern Michigan customers. As they finish restoring power, they will be shifting their attention north to help bring the lights back on to homes and businesses in mid-Michigan after another round of bad weather.
