BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – School officials from around Branch County gathered last Friday in hopes of there will be a strong collaboration in the future between school and community health resources.
Administrators, school counselors, school social workers, school psychologists, behavior analysts, teacher consultants and community mental health providers were on hand to share many of the resources available to students and families.
Schools often refer families to community services for additional resources and community providers regularly work with schools to help students succeed.
Conversations surrounding social emotional learning for students has been on the rise in recent years as many students are struggling emotionally and parents are looking for more support.
Many feel as schools and providers try to address the growing need, identifying what a community already has in place is a great starting point.
Branch ISD Superintendent Kris Jenkins says, “Knowing what is provided in Branch County for families helps us prevent duplication of services. It allows us to allocate resources in ways that are most beneficial to families.”
If you provide services to individuals, students, and or families, and would like to be included in future meetings, contact Jennifer Searls at searlsj@branch-isd.org, or call (269) 420-7739.
