COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Fire Chief Dave Schmaltz said in his annual report which was presented to the City Council on Monday night there were less calls for service in 2022 compared to the previous year.
There were 1,310 calls last year after the department received 1,480 calls in 2021.
The total number of structure fires were about the same. There were 50 in 2022 after 48 were reported in 2021.
Schmaltz said two firefighters were injured while on the job last year.
Schmaltz said Coldwater firefighters were able to save $7 million in property during 2022.
There was also a decrease of 46 EMS calls last year which was a drop of six percent.
