BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Quincy hosted Homer on “Senior Night”, but the Trojans played the spoiler role, stifling the Orioles 57-35. It was a back and forth contest in the first quarter with the Trojans leading after the first eight minutes 17-12.
The second quarter was all Homer, as they took control of the game with a 19-3 outburst. This allowed the Trojans to head into halftime with a comfortable 36-15 lead.
The third quarter again was a back and forth affair, with Homer edging Quincy, 16-14 to head into the fourth quarter with a commanding 52-29 lead.
The fourth quarter saw Quincy edge Homer, 6-5 as both teams emptied their benches.
Tre’Von Bodley led Quincy with 16 points, 11 rebounds and five blocked shots. Grant Carter added nine points.
Quincy plays at home on Thursday against second place Concord, in the last Big Eight contest of the season. The Orioles will also induct new members into its athletic “Hall of Fame” at halftime of the varsity contest.
The Quincy J.V. boys basketball team remained undefeated in dramatic fashion. After trailing by double digits throughout the game, the J.V. Orioles clawed their way back and Corey Turner hit a long three at the buzzer to give Quincy a 51-48 victory over Homer.

The Bronson Vikings had to go into overtime before they won at Springport 65-53. Bronson has won seven of their last eight as they improved to 9-5 in the Big 8 and 12-9 overall.

The Union City Chargers snapped a five game losing streak with a 63-59 overtime win at McNett Fieldhouse over Concord.
After the Yellow Jackets tied the game with a buzzer beating three point bucket at the end of regulation, the Chargers outscored Concord in the overtime 12-8.
Four Chargers finished in double figures. Landon Galvin and Aiden Decker both scored 14 points while Rick Austin had 13 points and Eli Payne had 10 points.
Union City is now 3-11 in the Big Eight and 8-13 overall.

Big 8 Conference champion Jonesville defeated Reading 55-42. The Comets win and the overtime loss by Concord allowed Jonesville to clinch the title.
Also in boys basketball on Tuesday night, Tekonsha defeated Hillsdale Will Carleton Academy 52-46.
