MASON, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater freshman diver Sam Pernia qualified for the M.H.S.A.A. Division Three Diving Finals on Thursday night as he finished fifth at the regional meet hosted by Mason.
Pernia will travel to Oakland University in Rochester for the State meet which will be held next Thursday, March 9.
After the fifth round of the 11 dive meet on Thursday, Pernia was in a tight battle for fifth.
He dropped to sixth after the eighth round but finished strong with a personal best to stamp his ticket to the state meet.
