BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles suffered a heartbreaking 37-36 loss in their regular season finale to the Concord Yellow Jackets on Quincy’s Hall of Fame night.
Quincy had the final possession but a last second shot that would have won the game hit the front of the rim and fell just short.
Quincy trailed 22-12 at halftime. An inspired comeback in the second half was spurred by their defense as the Orioles allowed just 15 points after halftime.
Quincy was led by Ashtyn Morris with 10 points and seven rebounds. Grant Carter added nine points.
The Orioles will take a 10-11 record into Monday’s opening round district game at Union City against Centreville starting at 5:30 p.m..

Meanwhile, Quincy’s J.V. boys basketball wrapped up an undefeated season with a 61-47 win over Concord.

Elsewhere in Branch County boys basketball on Thursday, Bronson and Union City road wins as part of the Big 8-Cascades Conference crossover games.
The Vikings won at 49-47 as they improved to 13-9. Aden Hathaway led Bronson with 18 points while Kam Brackett added 11 points.
The Chargers are now 9-13 after they won at Grass Lake 45-38. Aidan Decker had 13 points to lead Union City.
Union City will open district play at the McNett Fieldhouse Monday night against White Pigeon.
Also in boys basketball on Thursday, Tekonsha lost to Battle Creek St. Philip 63-53.
