DETROIT, MI (WTVB) – Grady Iobe and Landyn Crance of Union City won M.H.S.A.A. Division Four wrestling championships while Bronson’s Perry Lake earned a second place finish at the M.H.S.A.A. Individual Wrestling Finals on Saturday afternoon at Ford Field in Detroit.
They led a group of 14 Branch County wrestlers who made it to the podium after earning All-State honors by finishing in the top eight of their respective weight divisions.
For the first time in 51 years, Union City collected multiple State Championships in the same year.
Roger Boes, Jim Miller & Chuck Swarthout won State Championships in 1972. Additionally, Crance became the first Charger to win multiple State Championships after he won the 125 pound title last year.
Iobe finished 39-1 for the season as he defeated Daxton Looney of Montrose Hill-McCloy on a 7-0 decision.
Crance ended his season at 44-3 as he pinned Haylen Buell of Martin in 2:43.
Three other Chargers earned All-State honors. Logan Mears was third at 113 pounds, Colton Russell was sixth at 150 pounds and Garrett Halder was seventh at 215 pounds.
Lake finished 47-7 as he lost to Shawn McGuire Iron Mountain on a 12-3 major decision.

Lake was one of seven Bronson wrestlers to earn All-State honors.
Carson Norton was fourth at 157, Jacob Britten was fourth at 175, Jacob Dixon was eighth at 190, Matthew Blankenship was fourth at 215, Layne Knisely was fifth at 138 and MacKenna Webster became the first Bronson girl to earn All-State honors with a third place finish in the girls finals at 140 pounds.
Both of the Quincy wrestlers who earned their way to Ford Field made the podium. All-State honors were earned in Division Three by Jacob Reif who was eighth at 132 pounds and by Davin George who was seventh at 190 pounds.
