COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Proposed changes to the City of Coldwater’s Adult Use Recreational Marijuana zoning ordinance were discussed for about 40 minutes on Monday night during the City’s Planning Commission meeting.
No formal action was taken after the discussion.
There have been plenty of concerns raised about the future of marijuana grow operations in Coldwater especially in light of objections raised about odors.
City Planner Dean Walrack said there have been discussions about how growing marijuana fits within Coldwater and how it will continue in the future.
Walrack said he paid a visit to Morenci to look into their marijuana grows.
Planning Commission member Chris Stevens felt odors from retail establishments should be handled first before marijuana grows are looked at.
City Manager Keith Baker felt there was more of a consensus on retail than whether or not to allow further grow operations.
Three members of the nine member Planning Commission were absent from Monday’s meeting.
