COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater’s new City Planner and Director of Neighborhood Services is the former City Manager of Stanton in Montcalm County.
Outgoing Coldwater City Planner Dean Walrack says Jacob VanBoxel will take over next month.
The Daily News in Greenville reported in Thursday’s edition that after over two years on the job in Stanton, VanBoxel is resigning to take the job with the City of Coldwater and that his last day with Stanton will be March 31.
The Stanton City Commission voted unanimously to accept VanBoxel’s resignation during their meeting on Tuesday.
Stanton has a population of about 1,300 people which is far less than Coldwater’s population of nearly 14,000.
Walrack told the Coldwater Planning Commission on Monday night that the new City Planner will in attendance for their April 3 meeting.
VanBoxel told the Daily News, “It definitely seems like it’s going to be a fun and enjoyable job. A few things the Coldwater city manager would like me to start on are a pretty extensive waterfront park project, expanding the city’s non-motorized trail system, potential housing developments and working on the new master plan.”
He talked about his background during a podcast last November with host Duane Weed on www.discovermontcalmpodcast.com.
Coldwater City Manager Keith Baker announced in October that Walrack had accepted the position of GIS Specialist for the city.
Walrack became the City Planning and Zoning Director in 2017 after Baker was named the City Manager.
