GIRARD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A Tekonsha teenager was injured Saturday afternoon in a two vehicle personal injury crash at Dayburg and Gorbell Roads.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says 17-year-old Tristen Demeritt was transported to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo with non-life-threatening injuries by Marshall Ambulance Service.
Deputies say Demeritt was south bound on Gorbell Road when his 2006 Honda Civic failed to stop at the stop sign at Dayburg Road. 22-year-old Dawson McClughen from Quincy was east bound on Dayburg Road and collided with Demeritt’s vehicle.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, Demeritt was not wearing a seatbelt. He was ejected from the vehicle and was temporarily trapped underneath the front passenger side tire.
McClughen was not injured and was wearing his seatbelt. There was airbag deployment in both vehicles.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by Coldwater Fire Department and the Marshall Ambulance Service.
