COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners passed a resolution during their work session last Thursday in support of the County applying for a Community Project Grant to help fund a Broadband project.
It was required that a resolution be submitted by the local government entity by last Friday so Commissioners had to suspend board rules in order to pass the resolution.
County Administrator Bud Norman said they would put in a request for $1 million.
There have already been enough letters of support.
The funding would be for Fiscal Year 2024. Broadband is being pursued by Branch County as many residents currently lack high-speed Internet.
The resolution states funding would address the serious impacts of digital inequity that lack of connectivity creates and would support unserved and underserved areas of the community.
