LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Data released on Thursday by the Michigan Department of Technology Management and Budget showed Branch County’s unemployment rate held steady in February at four-point-nine percent.
Branch County had the 18th lowest jobless rate in Michigan and was among 20 of 83 counties that had a unemployment rate of five percent or less.
The Branch County unemployment rate had gone from three-point-seven percent in November to four percent in December to 4-point-9 percent in January.
The report stated regional unemployment rate trends were mixed in February.
Associate Director of the Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives Wayne Rourke said in a statement released by the DTMB, “Labor force levels were up across all regions in February.”
The department reported not seasonally adjusted jobless rates advanced in six Michigan regions, declined in three others and remained unchanged in eight areas over the month.
Total workforce levels advanced in all 17 labor market areas.
St. Joseph County’s unemployment rate dropped to five percent in February while it was at five-point-one percent in Hillsdale and Calhoun Counties.
Michigan’s February unemployment rate held steady at four-point-three percent.
Unemployment rates in February ranged from two-point-nine percent in Oakland County to 22-point-seven percent in Mackinac County.
