COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Planning Commission approved a Special Land Use Permit with numerous contingencies for a proposed 77-unit manufactured home park expansion between Seeley and Smith Streets on Monday night.
The action came after a public hearing which lasted for over an hour and featured many negative comments about the project from nearby residents.
The request was submitted by Michigan Trail Tree Village Property, LLC. Kim Scott from Cambio Communities of Southfield said the plans call for the units to be built on a vacant parcel of land that totals just under 18 acres.
A special land use permit is required for this project since the property is currently zoned A-A One-Family Agricultural Residential District.
Numerous nearby residents spoke out against the proposed project.
Second ward City Council member Jim Knaack said the project would not fit in the neighborhood.
Planning Commission member Jessika Cole motioned for approval with five contingencies. She also wanted the final site plan to come back to the Planning Commission.
Since this was a special land use application, the petition does not require City Council review or approval.
