COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners will take a final vote next week, but it appears that the county will be loaning $250,000 to Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility to get it though tight financial times this spring.
Maple Lawn Administrator Jayne Sabaitis told the commissioners during their work session Thursday morning that the money should be the only cash needed from the county. Last August the board had agreed to advance Maple Lawn up to $1 million, but they have not drawn on that yet.
Maple Lawn is still in the process of paying back the State of Michigan $874,000 after they got a notice of a Medicaid Interim Payment adjustment last June.
They are also awaiting an anticipated $3.6 million Employee Retention Credit from the federal government, which was part of the COVID-19 relief package. They are also expecting a percentage increase in Medicaid reimbursement.
Sabaitis says the census at the facility is on the rise, with 92 patients in February and March.
As part of the resolution the Board of Commissioners will be voting on next week, they will be asking for a long term financial sustainability plan from Maple Lawn.
