BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals bounced back from a season opening doubleheader loss to Vicksburg as they won three games and captured the title at their Southern Michigan Bank and Trust Invitational on Saturday.

They defeated Hanover-Horton 5-4 and Reed City 14-3 in the round robin portion of the tourney and then defeated Portage Northern 2-1 in the championship game.
Brady Massey’s RBI single in the last of the fourth drove in what proved to be the winning run in the title contest.
Cole Heinemann was the winning pitcher in the championship game while Cam Heinemann earned the save.
Garrett Johns and Landon Auble were the winning pitchers for Coldwater in the round robin. The three wins improved the Cardinals record to 3-2.

Union City split two games at their Invitational on Saturday.
They lost to Constantine 4-3 in the semifinals before bouncing back in the consolation game to defeat Grass Lake 10-5.
