COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Commissioner Alan McClellan mentioned towards the end of last Thursday’s work session that Algansee Township is interested in possibly leasing a portion of the old Animal Control Shelter south of Quincy.
He said the Township is thinking about renovating the building which is now being used by the Road Commission for storage into a township hall.
County Administrator Bud Norman said it has not been brought forward to Commissioners because they don’t know where things stands.
Plumbing and electrical in the building would have to be renovated.
Commission Chair Tim Stoll requested that the matter be placed on the agenda for the next work session on April 20.
The Branch County Animal Control Shelter next to the County Jail opened in October of 2017. It was needed after a fire in May 2015 heavily damaged the old shelter.
