Barbara J. Rice, 81, of Three Rivers and formerly of Quincy, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023, at Promedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Three Rivers.
A private family graveside service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Quincy.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Quincy.
She was born August 23, 1941, in New Boston, MI to Leon and Olivia (Flotte) Reaume. She married Donald Rice on June 24, 1961, and he survives.
Barb graduated from Belleville High School, Class of 1960. At Quincy Schools, she was known as the “Lunch Lady” where she worked in the cafeteria for 33 years.
In retirement, Barb loved traveling to Mexico with her husband. She was a winter Texan, spending 17 years in Brownsville, TX. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking for her family and serving as an usher at Tibbits Opera House in Coldwater.
Barb was very social and was known for striking up conversation with anyone she met. She was a member of NIKA and the Red Hat Society.
Surviving besides her husband, Donald are two children, Ginna (Jack) Rupp of Marcellus, MI and Shannon (Collette) Rice of Schoolcraft; grandchildren, Marisha (Michael) Taylor, Andrew (Sheena) Teachout, Izabella and Zoey Rupp, and Seth, Margaret, Olivia and Samuel Rice; five great grandchildren; and sisters, Patricia Eady and Bernadine Higgins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Eric Rice; and brothers, Frank and Philip Reaume.
